i got a new cluster for my 90 LX from a local yard. apparently the car it came out of was a limited edition Country Road Special or CRS.....j/k.

anyhow, the cluster is sooo dusty and caked with dirt that i need to take it apart to clean it up.

can i do this without poppin the needles off? does anyone have a writeup of the procedure for taking it apart?

it's just bolts, you should see them all... believe most of them are torx heads

i want to take each of the gauge assemblies out of the white plastic housing so i can clean them up . but i want to do this so i don't have to take any of the needles off. it looks to me like they are attached on the back of it where the circuit paper is. all the little metal pieces that have holes in them.

the speedo, the tach, the volt/temp panel, and the oil/fuel panel all come out separately. the volt gauge may need to be unbolted from the printed circuit, but the rest pull out (i think).

Yes, they just bolt in place. I replaced my 85 speedo with a 140 unit a few years ago. As long as you are not removing the faces, you shouldn't need to touch the needles.
