I bet a lot of these SEMA jobs are purposely overdone for shock value and to get people looking at their stuff. I HOPE that's the case anyways...

Roof Sccop

The roof scoop is only used on the WRC cars for subaru and other rally racing cars. It cools the cabin because they don't have AC or anything in the rally cars to save weight. The regular street cars do not come roof sccops. We do have hood scoops though, and that is to cool down our intercooler which keeps the turbo and air cooler for max HP.

The Mustang probably has it because they removed the AC for weight saving, but stupidly put in a sound system for show. It looks like the car is meant for some kind of competition though, so it is there for looks (if it is a trailer queen) or function (if they race it all).

The roof scoop first appeard on LeMans endurance race cars, I think over 10 years ago. IIRC Porsche was the first to use it. It fed air into the mid mounted engine (ahead of the rear wheels & behind the driver). It soon became the rage as Mercedes and other LeMans cars used this sort of roof scoop. The roof scoop faded away from LeMans racing when the rules were changed to encourage open cockpit cars. Now there is a new class of closed cockpit cars and the roof scoop has returned.

I assume on the H&R Mustang the "scoop" is there for looks only.
