Guys, I'm desperate over here...has anyone of you personally installed a 93 computer in your 94/95 car? If so, how much of a pain was it? I already know it's different pin numbers on the connectors from a previous post. Did you have to replace your whole harness as well or is there a jumper style connector that fits a 95 stock harness and adapts with a male/female/etc type connector to a 93 computer? I've got fairly severe surging problems below 2000rpm with a new crate engine (E-CAM). I already heard that a Anderson PMS would solve the problem, but that's a high dollar item. I'm in the military with a family and after all this motor madness fairly broke! I noticed a few 93 computers on ebay for a more reasonable price. Or would a chip help me in any way. If you guys out there know the answer, please help!
Thanks

You'd need the Pro-M PIH harness and its big bucks if you can even find one now. IMO its a waste of time and money. The PMS can be had for not much more than what a PIH and A9L swap would cost you. A chip from a GOOD tuner will solve your issues. If there are no GOOD tuners in your area, check with JMS for a chip. I run an eec tuner to get my car to idle and be a master of my own tuning needs. Its very "old school" but it works enough for what I'm doing.

If you are interested, I have the ProM PIH in my car now and would be willing to trade you for your J4J1. I need the original PCM for my Tweecer RT and need to swap out the PIH. It works flawlessly, and I will include everything that came with it. PM me if interested.

Thanks guys, but all those acronyms killed me (wouldn't expect that from a military dude). I just shot an email to JMS, hopefully (HOPEFULLY) they can hook me up with something to help me out. I also emailed JETchip and Superchip just to see...

So a chip will fix my problem????? It looks like the cheapest route to go as well.

Hey Paul I noticed you mentioned Kaufmann motorsports, can I get something through them? What specifically did you run to help your idle problems? Thanks again

Just wanted to let you know that your Tweecer would allow you to use a pcm out of a GT Stang (t4m0).

You would load the Cobra cal file (j4j1) in the GT pcm thus making it no different than a j4j1.

If you removed the Tweecer the pcm would default back to the GT pcm however.

If your looking for a good tuner you can always go to Dallas, Mustang. They have the best Tuner in the cental region. I drove 5 hours just to let him tune my car and spent 500 dollars and it was well worth it. Not only did he gain me horsepower he also improved my drive ablity. Just spend the cash to have a good tune done to it and you will be very pleased

I got a chip from JMS and they rock...cured the surging/bucking and idle probs. plus they can do other things too....but a word of advice, unless things have changed there, it will take forever to get a response by email, call them for best results...just my .02.

Thanks Grady! I have been stressing over trying to find a J4J1, but I'll take a T4M0 and folow your advice. I had thought I could laod the J4J1 cal file into my A9L and do the same, but as you guys told me in the other thread, the CBAZA strategy is different. I should have no trouble locating a T4M0.

you're right they picked up the phone right away! It looks like I'll got that route, for price and ease. How easy was the install? Man you're running just about what I've got, the E cam except I have those alum GT 40 XP heads. What's you're quarter mile times?

it'll come with instructions, just pull out the puter and makee sure you clean the contacts real well!!!!! putting it all back in is a little tricky with the chip installed but not to bad. havn't ran the car in the 1/4, run 1/8 once but was a waste of time, my sixty was like 2.3, with 1/8 of 9 flat. I am really happy with the chip solved alot of probs. good luck! Oh and by the way....thank you for your service!!!
