Has Stangnet Changed?

Im specifically talking about the 5.0 talk and tech. I got my first mustang like 2 years ago. I started reading and posting on forums instantly to learn as much as i can. Quickly stangnet became my favorite. Then i got rid of my fox and got my 95. I started posting in that section. But over the summer i realized i missed having a foxbody so i got my 1990lx. I have been busy with school and stuff but started posting on here. To me it feels like the whole attitude of the site has changed from how it was a few years ago. Everyone seems much more narrow minded and quick to insult or call names. I dont know but this section of stangnet just seems to have lost what made me like it so much. Back then it was all about helping and being open minded to new things, companies, and ideas. I dont know does anyone else have this feeling or is it just me?

Changed... certainly. I don't think it's changed in the way you mention though.

For the most part, I think we've got a pretty good group of folks here. Folks that care about the forum and it's content. I think we have folks that police the majority of the forum themselves.

If by narrow minded you mean coming in and pretty much saying what you want regardless of what kind havock it causes.. then yeah. Count me as narrow minded. lol

Our tech section is setup for technical issues and our talk is setup to have a good time.

What do you suggest?

I don't know about everyone else, but of all the forums I've been on I feel right at home in 5.0 Tech/Talk. Stangnet is definitely one of the better places to hang out.

Agreed. I'm all ears, too.

I've been here at stangnet for a long time and have been a member at corral for even longer. So I remember what it was like, and I haven't really noticed much of a difference.

I think people here intend to help as much as possible, but of course everyone is biased by their own experiences. So, take me for example: I'll reccommend to someone that turbos are the way to go, while a guy that has only run nitrous will most likely reccommend that. We may each be narrow-minded, but we're also each trying our best to help the guy out.

Maybe you've been around long enough to have picked up on the limits of people's experience. So you see it as narrow-minded now, whereas back then you were still learning and saw each post in the way it was intended - to be helpful.

In any case, it looks like you've hit the two most active moderators in this forum. So here's your chance to help make a difference.

From the outside looking in it may seem a bit like you mentioned. Sometimes things do get out of hand but sometimes things are in a playful way and if you aren't around enough you may miss that part of it. However just as siblings can argue, name call or even be narrow minded, we still can get along the next day. Everyone has had their own opinions, beliefs and experiences and stand behind them. Personally what kind of person wouldn't. But the fact is we are all still after the same thing. That is for the love of Mustangs and to help other members in whatever way we can.

i dont know, maybe i posted a little to soon, i have been reading a lot more posts tonight and do not seem to be seeing the types of things i had been noticing the past few days. I guess it may have just been the posts i had seen from a quick glimpse. Ill just keep reading and posting, and if i have any more feelings on this post in this thread. Thanks for the quick responses and honest opinions. Maybe it has just changed in other ways and coming back i expected it to be the same and looked at stuff differently.

Being away for a while can make things seem alien when you return. Faces (members) are different, the tone is a bit different... Just takes some time to re-acclimate, me thinks.
