i took off my catted magnaflow x today because i hit something that dented and totally trashed the ceramics inside my driver side cat. so driving around with a blown out cat and ceramic flying out of your tail pipes sucks!

i dont live to far from brothers performance so i drove down there and bought an o/r BBK X for my 01 cobra. the pipe fit well but i hear an exhaust tick sound at around 2200rpm, then it smooths out. i went to ford and got a new flange gasket for the passenger side but i still think its leaking. Im running a magnaflow cat back as well. i have always hated my magnaflows but i got so used to the sound with the catted X. i think im just going to break down and buy another magnaflow X or have the bad cat cut out and a new one welded in.

the factory bolts are a total bitch! now i know why you guys switch to long tubes. maybe i should just have a shop install the factory piece and be done with it. im tired of messing with my exhaust.

and some other things i forgot. i looked at my stock mid pipe and the magnaflow and they both have a welded flange that sticks up out of the pipe to help seal to the passenger manifold. the bbk pipe didnt have that feature at all! what brand does?

I'd get MAC. I have a o/r H-pipe and it was pretty good. I don't know about their catted systems though. Some people say they are hit or miss with quality but I didn't have any problems with mine.

If you want Bassani, You can get the catted midpipe at fairway ford in Placentia for $320., Exhaust is 350. Only about a 50minute drive from San Ber.

Isn't that rediculously cheap for Bassani?

well im being a cheap ass. im going to have a local shop install the factory H back in. i called another exhaust shop in town that stocks flowmasters and they said it would be about $330 to cut out my magnaflows and weld in some 2 chambers. $330! WTF! i could buy the whole catback for that! i was thinking $150 to $200. oh well. i might as well switch to the factory cat back too. i hate the sound of my magnaflows with the factory H.

Yep it is bx, and rediculously cheap.
Bassani is 5 miles away from Fairway Ford and they were an original distributor, which is probably why they get their kits so cheap.

Flowmaster american thunder catback is $320 at Summit... I would think the factory catback would cost you an arm and a leg, just get the flows and it will give you a nice mellow tone with your factory H pipe

I vote SLP everything bolts together so if you wanted you could swap out the cats and go off road. Its very simple to do. I don't know what they run but i have a full SLP exhaust and except for a small exhaust leak that i can't seem to (actually i'm to lazy) fix it sounds great.

Check out www.LMPerformance.com they are pretty good on their prices.

i ended up just putting the stock H back on. im going to try and sell all my exhaust parts or trade in the hopes of making enough cash to get some flows. the magnaflows with the stock H arnt that bad. im done with mid pipes! so i have a magna flow stainless X with a bum cat, BBK o/r X, stock cat back (01 cobra), BBK MILs, and well my magnaflow catback (01 cobra) so if anyone in the so cal area with a cobra wants to trade or buy lemme know.
