i am onlky 18 and new to the whole mustang world and have a question. I just got my first stang. It used to be my brothers but he got a 04 mach 1. Its has fulll mac exaust, 3.73s, edelbrock intake 70mm tb, 75mm ma 24lb injectors, my question is when it had the stock throttle body on it it ran high 13s low 14s and now that the 700m is on it the best thats seen is high 14s. if i do a cam swap to a e303 will this help to get back in the 13s. sorry so long.

welcome. put the stock throttle body back on, problem solved. it's easier and cheaper. how's your driving skills? was he driving (your brother) or you when you ran the high 14's? who's running what?

I think with your current set-up the 70mm tb and 24 lb injectors is a little bit too stout. Normally if your going to do a cam you do the head swap and upper and lower intake manifold swap at the same time. Oboviously you dont have to, but it is common to do the three all at once, with the H/C/I swap you should be fine in leaving the tb and injectors. If your not going to do the swap I would probably just switch back to the stock tb as mentioned.

yeah but the stock TB back on, a 70 is to big for that set up unless you have a blower on there. If you want to do a cam then put on a good set of aluminum heads and it will really wake the car up alot.

seems odd to me that you would lose almost a full second from just adding a bigger throttle body....i think there might be some other reason as well....hell i put a 70mm on my car with less mods and it pulls harder......

Is it still tuned to be running with the nitrous? i.e colder plugs, retarded timing, rich a/f ratio, etc..

Im with eddie, it probably still has the colder plugs and is tuned for the nitrous. Try pulling the chip out and see if that helps anything. I dont think the TB is the issue here, you will not loose hp from a bigger TB

I have seen mild H/C/I cars pick up .15 seconds on the 1/4 mile with the swap from stock to 75mm.

There are a lot of guys who still swear to this day that a 75mm is too big for a h/c/i 302 let alone a blower 302....its a shame

Sorry to bring up old threads but, I know exactly why it was running slower. A car with 127,000 plus miles on it with a 150 shot off nitrous for about 60,000 miles is the reason that it slowed down. Oh and by the way the main bearings stacked up on it and it locked up :damnit: Oh well i guess its time for another engine besides my little brother doen't need a 302 he needs to get used to the weak 98 gt he has now.

If the t/b was added recently, I would put the stock one back on like others have said. I don't think you would lose a full second just from a to big throttlebody (if it is to big, don't really have an opinion yet on what throttlebody size would be to big on h/c/i combo). Maybe there's a vacuum leak or something when the t/b was installed, or like others have said, unplug the chip and check what spark plugs your running, might be to cold of a heat range.
