I hope you can help me with this weird electrical problem. I was just about to take the stang in for inspection and I noticed the 4 way flashers are not working for some reason. The signal lights work fine and when I hit the 4 way switch it will not allow the signal lights to come on so the switch is working fine and all the bulbs are fine. I checked all the fuses and that was fine as well. I am not sure what else could be in the ckt for me to check. I hate trying to find electrical problems, :bang: if I can't find it tonight I think I may just take it into Ford and have them find it at like a million bucks an hour.

If anyone can help me save a million bucks please point me in the right direction.

I am guessing that it is a faulty switch. My hazzards only work if I play with the switch a little(by moving it slowly from off to on) then they start working. Maybe this is another common problem like the dimmer switch. Good luck finding the problem.

I assumed the flasher was fine since the signal lights worked. Is there a different flasher for the 4 ways? Where is the relay I am looking for if I need to check that?I will try playing with the switch tonight and see if that does it.

Thanks for the help.

The turn signal relay is separate from the hazard relay. It should either be in your fuse box on the front side (circular shaped one,) or if not, on the backside of the fuse box where it looks like the round fuse should go (up in the top right corner on my '88.)

I would just pull the switch out and verify that all the wires are fully plugged in, then replace the flasher if that doesn't fix the problem. If that doesn't work, try replacing your ignition switch.. they are $19 from PepBoys, and if yours was never replaced, there's a recall for them anyway. You'll need a tamper-resistant torx bit to get the old one off.
