After I get done with the FTI HCI swap on my car, I won't be taking it anywhere for a dyno tune like a lot of you do. There is no really good place in my city for that and I don't want to drive 6 hours for it. This is my question:
How many people have done similar swaps without a dyno tune afterwards? I'm just kind of worried the car might not perform to its best capabilities. I did, however, order a custom made chip from JMS...I figure that should help a bit.
Thanks.

Go to the track and make adjustments and wherever it runs best MPH, keep it there.

Yeah I'm in the same boat as you...I should start up my "FTI'd" car tomorrow...and the only dyno around is for imports and he rarely does anything with mustangs...it's usually only if you know him ...so I guess I'll have to do the track tuning...

I was to a dyno but not for tuning. Just for numbers.

The track is my dyno.

Good to hear. I plan on going to the track right after the car is running again. By the end of this race season, I'm going for 12.74 or faster on motor and 11.99 or faster on a 125 shot. I know the power is there for it...it's just up to the suspension and my driving skills.

12.74 exact? How'd you come up with that number? As long as you have drag radials and can launch, your goals are attainable. With et street, you'll easily surpass your goals. What did you ask ed for when doing the cam design?

I agree, that motor should be in the low 12's.. if not high 11's. say around.. 113-114 MPH.

EDIT. With a 125 shot. your looking at VERRY low 11's to high 10's.

12.74 or faster is all I want from the motor. I consider 12.75-12.99 a high 12, 12.00-12.25 a low 12 and any run from 12.26-12.74 a mid 12. All I'm aiming for is to have a "mid" 12 second car on the motor and an 11 second car with the juice.
I'm also trying to keep my expectations kind of low, so I'm not disappointed at the track. BTW, I have all the bases covered....Hoosier Quick Time Pros on Turbine rims for the track.
I told Ed I wanted him to make my car as fast as all the other 165/FTI/Performer combos he's done. Told him my time goals and he said it would be easy with traction and decent driving skills. Every ounce of advice he gave me, I took so I hope it pays off.
