Dart SHP block, AFR 185 renegades, and cometic mls C5909-060 head gaskets. Why are the two front water passages blocked and the upper passages restricted vs the head/block passage size?

I would say that’s normal .... I recall my head gaskets looking the same way .... that helps the water flow from the front to the rear of the block .... 2 cents

From looking at other people's builds they all appear to be that way. Since it has been so long since I have built one of these I am just making sure I don't miss something.

Apparently my ex-husband made that mistake.

It's to channel water to the back of the block before it flows back to the front in the heads to distribute cooling. The had gasket is how you make that work on an engine with interchangeable parts like heads, and symmetrical casting processes.

Might have to get a Dart block but don't want to and if I do, then 363 instead of 331. Thoughts on what I've already bought so far.......
