I'm going to be doing my head swap in a few weeks and was wondering will using differant gaskets make a difference? I know some are thicker and some are thinner, but what's better? Should I not worry about it and just use the Ford gaskets that come in the cylinder head changing kit?

Also wondering if I should bother with installing some shorties. I don't think there is much of a gain from anything other than LT's, is there? can someone shed a little light on this for me.

Thanks

the thicker gasket's gonna lower your compression, but why? i'd just use the regular ford gaskets that came with the kit.

That's what I was thinking and I don't want to lower compression since I'm staying N/A. I just wasn't sure if there was a better gasket or if the FoMoCo gasket was ok. Thanks Ry....

P.S. How's your car running? Get a tune yet?

Modular Depot..the 900hp Cobra uses stock head gaskets. They say they hold up just as good or better than anything else.

What came loose on your exhaust? Plese say it WASN'T your mid pipe at the manifolds!!

The heads are out of an '02 Roush. That leads me to another question. They didn't come with the cam gears, can I use the ones from my old heads/cams or do I have to get new ones?

nah, the bolts i used between the midpipe and catback dont have enough thread. i'll add some washers or something.

anyway, you can reuse your cam sprockets from your car.

speaking of manifolds. i noticed that the large opening on my 96 manifolds were about 3/4" larger than the opening on the 00 manifolds that came with my pi's. obviously i used my 96 manifolds. but i just find it odd. there was definatly a difference in the size.

Hmmmm.... That's odd. It looks like I'm going to put some shorties in, so no manifolds to deal with. I'll check the openings on the headers and compare them to the manifolds on my car now. I'm interested to what they look like.
