my dad pulled the seats out of an 89 lx convertible when i swapped motors. the only problem is he wants to take the head rest off and re upholster the seats and put them in an 38 dodge project hes been working on. is there a certain way to take the head rests off?
You can use a thin piece of bar stock inserted down the groove on the front of the headrest post to release the spring tab, then pull the headrest up and out.
Since your friend is taking the seats apart anyway, spearate the seat back from the seat bottom. Then open the seat back upholstery at the bottom by pulling the plastic clip apart. Reach up into the seat back and feel around for the headrest post. Insert a thin piece of bar stock or long, narrow screwdriver into the groove, and push to release the spring clip. Pull the headrest up and out.
