Ok, dont laugh, I bought these headers 2 years ago when the part number ended in C50 so I call FMS hotline and they tell me that part number are the old headers and will not work on the P heads so I was bull-****. But before I bought new headers I thought I would take one off my E7 to see if they are the P headers (I think I bought one of the first P headers from Ford when the part # was still the old C50)- so I spent an hour carefully taking the stage 8 bolts off the driver side header and pulled it off (in 25 degree weather mind you!) and bolted it up to my new P heads- the results you see below-

Now I am rather paranoid about this and anal so can somone please confirm that as you can see the spark plug fits fine on the #5 cynlider shown so that would mean that the headers I already have will work for all 8 cylinders.. correct?

AND, just because the driver side will fit does that guarantee that the passenger side will as well? I assume so because on the pass side the spark plugs are to the right of the header tube so if the driver side works (where the spark plug is on the inside of the exhaust tube) then I WILL NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH MY EXISTING HEADERS...

correct?

last but not least!

Damn, that is a whole hell of a lot better fit than my Hedman LTs or my friends MAC's. Only thing I would recommend is maybe grinding down the flange that hangs over the spark plug hole a little. It will make it that much easier to get a socket on them. I would be willing to bet that they will also clear the other side.

thanks - I think that kind of fit is what you get when you match Ford parts to Ford parts

The right and left cyclinder heads are identical. I'm pretty sure that the header flanges are identical as well. I'm 99.5% confident that they will fit fine.

Twotonefreak had a good idea about creating socket clearance for the plugs.

custom wire set with 90 degree boots will clear just fine. ive installed non P headers on P heads and only experienced 2 plugs a little close.

I only have trouble with the number#7 plug wire. 90 deg. boots are a must. I redid that particular tube with some scrap bends from a local Header builder and still had to hammer it in some to clear, and it just clears the boot and instead of running the wire towards the front, I run it back towards the number 8 wire and have them held tight against each other and than run to the distributor. When I first put this engine together I was burning wires up every 1 I swear. I learned the hard way about grinding down the flange b/c when I went to change plugs for the first time about 2 weeks ago, I ended up having to pull the headers off! So I trimmed them at that time.

I got them from Buyfordmotorsport back in April of 2002 for 269.00- they are about 300.00 now though- they are the FMS P51 headers -
