Is there really a difference in power gains between BBk, Hooker, Kooks, SLP, and others? I will probably get the BBKs but are gains a big difference from the Kooks Headers? I have a NA GT with cams.

They all make about the same. Just buy the cheapest LT header you can find for the 4.6

There is a difference in the power that each one makes, but you're talking 5-8 RWHP difference. It is going to boil down to fitment, quality, and price. I have the BBK's and I like them, but the only thing I don't like is how they dimple one primary to clear the steering shaft.

The Kooks have shown to make the most power of the ones you listed....and they are also quite a bit more expensive. But, just like everything else in the go fast parts world, you get what you pay for.

When my motor comes out in a few months to do the heads/cams I will be going with Kooks. They are awesome quality. You don't have to get them coated since they are stainless, but for a little more money you can get them coated and pick up a few ponies and keep the under hood temps down a little.

I have BBK and fitment was great. U can difinately tell that i gained somesomething beyound 4000RPM.
Like above statement, I don't like the dimple on the primary tube either.
I guess SLP makes lettle more then BBK - just tad more. But i was not going to pay X2 money just for tad more.
But I was told that SLP has unmatched build qualuity tho

That would be Mac and they're an absolute junk Header and in some cases have actually proven to do more harm than good. Next question.

i went and put out the extra money for the slp l/t. i have before and after dyno of just the l/t(not including the power from the x pipe). 15rwhp at peakand only 3 rwtq at peak

however, this is what really counts....3200rpm a gain of 15rwhp/26rwtq!

3500rpm....13rwhp/23rwtq

5000rpm......11rwhp/14rwtq.

they picked great tq throughout the rpm range. that being said, yes they are expensive.

it is true that the quality is top notch. they are stainless steel and coated.

SLP shorties? is there such thing?

And unless your restricted by Emission requirement, don't waste money on any shorties. Shortie can be most expensive few HP for our car

Remember there are many parts of a header design. Tube length and diameter need to be optimized for your combination of parts to make the most HP / Torque. Thing like turn radius size are either correct or not.

The information I had received is, not to get L\T headers as I would lose
rwtq? and not much HP gain over the stock headers.

Are you able to run CAT with L\T headers?

They all make about the same power. We are talking about a 1-3RWHP difference between them at best.

I have the BBKs and LOVE them...my car made great power with them, and my car always dynod low. +1 on not liking the dent though...but I doubt it would do much to a N/A GT.
I would avoid the Mac and flowtech LTs...when they are super cheap, there is somthing being downgraded. I wouldnt trust them personally.

Get either BBK, SLP, Kooks, or MAYBE hooker. (hookers/flowtech are limited to which mid pipe you can use)

^Yes you can...that has to do with mid pipe selection.

A longer primary and especially a longer equal length primary, will always generate more torque. The exhaust gas velocities are maintained longer and further away from the exhaust port aiding in the scavenging effect during overlap. That means more torque.

Yes, you can run cats with LT's. There are production mid-pipes or H/X pipes out there. You can also have a custom mid-pipe fabbed by an exhaust shop.

Depending on whether or not your car must meet emissions requirements and how strict they are will dictate how and where you place the cats. Technically according most State/County emissions laws, you cannot move the factory location of the cats in order to stay legal. If you are in a county that doesn't have emissions, then ignore the crap I just typed in this paragraph.

Currently I have a Magna pack cat back

A- I was going to get BBK Shorty and Manaflow X pipe.
Exhaust Note would be good

This setup would cost about $900 and if I would go with a

B- BBK LT and SLP X its gonna be around the same but apparently my exhaust note will be really bad more HP

Which setup would you guys recommend ?

Then the information you recieved, was wrong. The exact opposite is true.

However is telling you this stuff, I suggest you stop listening haha. Exhaust sounds BETTER IMHO (and everyone else I know that has them) than with stock manifolds or shorties. LTs give a nice deep rumble...I LOVE em. Sound is amazing

As far as exhaust not goes.. with my catted P/C and SLP I's, I liked the sound, but my Dad said I sounded like a truck.

When I threw the BBK shorties on, he LOVES my note now. It quieted it down a bit, but it DID smooth it out as well.

If you're going shorties I would biastly reccomend BBKs, the price was right and the install was cake.

Power wise Shorties aren't gonna do much N/A, when I installed them I had dreams of a power adder, now I'm focusing on a N/A setup for this Stang so I think I would have been better off LT's.

Know where you're going, and stick with the name brand stuff IMO. 2-3 HP isn't too big of a deal to me as far as 400 bucks difference is concerned (Shorties, mor for L/Ts brand wise)/
