I have the flowmaster american thunder catback and the MRT catted H-pipe. Are headers worth the trouble? How much will it change the sound?

the problem is you already have the mid pipe. Shorty headers are not worth the agg! Longtubes however are...but you'll need a shorty mid pipe.

go with L tubes dude, take the car to a muffler shop for install, they can shorten the x-pipe while you are there.
