ok I'm planning out my engine setup, decided to de-turbo it (my homemade setup was just too ghetto to have in the car after I'm finished restoring it, among other reasons) I had tri-ys in it before the turbo setup but was thinking about my header options: most likely going to have them (or order them) ceramic coated..... what headers are best? long tubes vs tri-ys.. etc (it's a 5.0EFI if that helps any... and I can install the HEGO bungs so that isnt a factor)

Im running the complete MAC 2.5" tru-fit system on my 65 331 EFI. Nice long tubes and no collector gaskets. I did weld on my own Hego sockets. Mac uses ball socket connectors in the front and rear of the H pipe to allow easy removal of the H pipe and a leak free fit. They also have tailpipes for GT and non GT rear valances. Overall its a real nice fitting system. Comes with clamps and hangers too. In addition Jet Hot also sells these headers pre coated from thier own inventory.

ok I think I've decided on Tri-y's for the lower and mid-range torque, I can get a set of ceramic coated headers for 250$ from mustangs unlimited, seems pretty reasonable to me, anyone have any better deals? is the coating they use a real ceramic coating? (jet-hot not HTS)..................also there is a footnote "*Only fits 10 or 10.5" clutch, to use larger 1968+ bellhousing requires clearancing of LH header tubes." the 5.0 is of course after 1968 but will they really need clearencing? my old set of tri-ys fit fine.

For that kind of cash...get some doug thorley tri-y's from summit...little bit more but I think you'll be happier.

Hooker super comps. Great fit, no leaks, ez access to spark plugs, ez access to header bolts and no clearence issues. Ill never go to any other brand. Im sold. I just wish they made some a little bigger.
