Iv heard quite a few people have the same problems with Tri Y's. Some of them just loose'end the motor mounts and shifted the engine a little and thats all they needed. As for the different motor mounts . Got me? Im assuming the 67's sit the motor a little higher or something.

The 66s had taller motor mounts. I think it sits about an 1/2 higher or something like that. Do you have power sterring, if so you can buy a drop bracket.

Yeah you should switch to the 66 mounts, they are taller and give you the right amount of clearance.

Depending on how much hieght you need but I put a large body shim between the motor mount and the frame mount and it solved my problem.

Hooker super comps is the way to go. In my opinion at least. I never had a single problem with them, they fit perfect and look good.

unique

You may have some unique problem...

Tri-y's have been around as long as mustangs have and you don't hear of too many problems...

Mine fit perfectly...so have others...and the same goes for any other brand...

so I wish I could be more help...you may find the same problem with a different brand as you have now...

I have absolutely no clearence issues. Well i take that back i am using a lakewood scatter sheild for a late model mustang, so i had to put a small ding in one of the pipes. Not enough to cause any real flow loss. But when i had the old bellhousing in it fit perfect.

I'm pretty sure the headers are not your problem. Like others have said, they've been making tri-y's for mustangs for 40 years, they were designed to fit the mustang chassis specifically. I have tri-y's and have zero problems whatsoever. In fact, I used the tri-y's because I knew they would fit right. It kinda sounds like your pitman arm has been improperly installed to the steering box, like maybe it was installed off-center. If its a few teeth off, the travel of the pitman arm will interfere with other components. Take this into consideration when/if you try another set of headers because they too may also not fit properly.
