What are good headers for a 2000 mustang GT 5spd. I want the most power with the nicest loudest sound. I was thinking edlebrock but i am not sure

jba and bassani are top notch, but a little pricy. go long tubes if you can, but bassani optimum lengths give good gains as well.

I would have gone SLP or Hooker if I had the money, but I went MAC ceramic. Everything OK so far. As far as sound goes. They made it a little quieter at idle and louder any time you pressed the pedal. I love 'em. I may be wrong, but to answer your question, as far as sound goes, muffs > X or H > headers as far as what changes sound quality and intensity. I went catback first, prochamber second then headers. It got better every step of the way. Now I need some noise coming from the front........KB

i would have to differ and say midpipe is first headers are close second and finally the catback itself...cb only changes tone for the most part

I am going to lower my car so i cant do long tube...i am going to do shortys...i already ordered a higher flowing h-pipe and i am not going to have any cats. I was thinking SLP Loudmouth cat-back exhaust..so just cant find out what headers to get

go with LTs if you are going to do headers, not shorties. You will need a different mid pipe for the LTs. catless mid , X and h have different sounds, with hi flow muffs will make it loud.

You can lower your vehicle with lts. You just need to be careful on driveways and speedbumps. Ground clearance really hasn't been a problem for me. If you are going to slam it then forget it you will scrape everything. Shorty headers aren't really going to give you much of a gain - probably 3-5rwhp. I would spend my money elsewhere.

As far as sound goes it can kinda be explained like this.

Mufflers = tone
Midpipe = volume and pitch
Headers = smoothness of sound
