headlight panel removal

is the headlight panel hard to remove or is it riveted in like on fox bodies. this is for an 04 gt. sorry if i posted this in the wrong spot

The headlight assembly is extremely easy to remove. Pop the hood and look down at the back of the assembly and you'll see 2 slide pins that secure it in place. Pull the pins up and out and you can then pull out on the headlight housing.

When you get it far enough out you'll have access to the bulb connections of which there are 2.

Thanks for the info much appreciated, but i mean the whole header panel that holds the bumper up mine is broke so my bumper is hanging down.

Tagging along. My header panel is broken at the tab where it mounts to the bumper. I just discovered it was replaceable yesterday.

k i just did mine its the easiest thing ever bumper is simple to take off and the header panel is just 4 little bolts did it in like 45 min

Good to know. Before I found out it was replaceable I was thinking of jerry-riggng something.

might as well just replace it ya know. im gonna have to take my bumper back off i found that the actual metal bumper is bent down from previous owner pissed me off. gonna tie it to a tree and bend it back. thinkin about puttin a saleen bumper on it when i take it back off what you think?

When I bought my car back in 2005, the header panel was cracked on both sides. I replaced it in about an hour. It's an easy job.

What are the tale-tale signs that it needs to be replaced? I have a hunch that mine needs it but I can't just pull the bumper off and look right now.

For me, it was obvious as I could see the cracks in the header panel. Generally speaking, though, if the headlamps are loose and/or move around when installed in the vehicle, the header panel is probably cracked and needs to be replaced.

for me i could see it cracked in half behind the grille and the bumper was hanging about an 1 1/2 inch under the headlights very simple job to fix

And the new panel I assume fixed the headlight and bumper issues? This might be the next thing I need to look into.. 10 yr old cars are at that age where it needs upkeep a little bit. Thanks fellas for the responses and for me thread jacking
