What is the easiest way to do it? I have an 87 gt with those ugly headrests. I was thinking of using a saw blade.. Which side do i put it down the forn or back??

Awhile back there was a real moron who could not get the headrests out. Here is that moron's thread. It has great info and even a pic by Jrichker. :nice:

Good luck.

haha man that guy was a moron

jk

but one question, other than to put halos in, why would you want to pull out your headrests? in my opinion the seats would look stupid without them, i actually like the big headrests as opposed to the tiny LX ones, halos are pretty cool i guess

sorry, it doesnt really make sense to me

What color seats do you have? I'm looking to trade my grey smaller headrests for the bigger ones. It helps if you use a really long flathead screwdriver.
Ill trade them.. I am putting halos in though but ill take yurs off your hands for a trade..

how did you go in with the skrewdriver from the top or the bottom? I guess the hacksaw blade method doesent work to well.

man, I dont even remember. I think I used a screwdriver - I do know it was from the bottom. I broke my hacksaw blade doing that, so the screwdriver was the only game I had left. I can tell you that the springy catch dealie was TIGHT. I think the headrest was frozen (being a vert, perhaps the thing had been caught in the rain with the top down a time or 20 and it got a little rusty in there). Which brings up another point, dont get lockjaw. :D

Good luck.

I used my long flatehead and came in through the bottom. Just aim towards the middle part of the seat and towards the front. The headrest is held in by a shaft with a clip that retains it. Just use the flathead to open the clip and pull up on the headrest. My first time took me about an hour, now I can do both in about 20 minutes. I'll pm you about the trade.

True dat. I spent like an hour or two (not all at once - over a couple days, 10 mins at a time till I cramped up) on the driver side. The pass side took 20 seconds from the time I put my hand up the back of the seat.
I still think my driver side was jacked up, which is why I strugged so bad (I have 18" forearms and really had to ream - I bent the screwdriver).
