what are the best heads for under $1800 you can buy for a 98 gt? fully assembled would be a nice plus!

You didn't post this in the right thread, so you probably aren't going to get too many opinions.

The only heads out for a 2V 4.6 that are different (and better) than those on the 98GT are the 99+ PI heads. You can also get them ported, and many companies have an excellent CNC program from them, but then you'd need to get a set of cams to take advantage of the increased port volume.

The only heads for the 4.6 are the 99 and up PI heads. You may want to post this in the 4.6 forum for better results.

there are places that port them i think foxlake? maybe does that im not positive though head over to the 4.6 forums

i thought seah hyland made some heads? don't know really. ask over in the modular boards.

I think there are heads for the 4.6 but they're like 4000 dollars. Modular motors are sooooooo expensive. Should have bought a 5.0.

Although I cringe when I say this - Summit has some kind of deal that sells "Stage 2" rolleyes PI heads from a big name company. The name slips me for the time being. Yes, there is also Fox Lake and many others. Sean Hyland doesn't have their own heads (that I know of) but they may have their own spin on the PI head.

FRPP also has performance heads, but from what I hear (and I'm not a 4.6 guy so don't take my word for it) its better and cheaper to just buy the PI castings from the 99-newer cars. Patriot is someone to look into to. (this is from what I hear... definitely check with the 4.6 crowd FIRST)

FR500 heads

99+ PI heads

and ported to the bone 96-98 heads are your only choices.

I'm with paul, i have heard nothing but good about patriot performance's heads.....there is a place here in Al called VT engines as well that plays with the 4.6 stuff a lot.........they have a website just do a search for it....

Actually the major design flaw in 96-98 SOHC stangs is the crap intake and valves in the head, not the heads themselves.

But since he asked, when 5.0 Mustang & SF did the testing I saw, the FRPP heads and intake outperformed the PI heads, and they had to work the PI heads to get them over the FRPP heads.

Also, the 4V heads should be counted. But that's a fun swap....

My bud has a set of Patriot Stage 3 heads on his 99', they also came with Stage 3 cams (.550") for like 1500$. Car makes mine sound weak! With the head/cam package they claim a 100rwhp gain he told me. I helped install them..the port work was great!
