1989 mustang gt t5 wc

Hey everyone, had problems last year with humming and vibration from the t5 , daily driver. Clutch disc was also missing some clutch. (Replaced)
Had a shop swap parts from a spare t5 I had laying around , ,(no history)

Put trans back in car , drives great nice and smooth no vibration, only problem is 5th gear doesn't feel like it fully engages then pops out under load,

Engine off will shift fully into 5th and hold.
Engine running feeling like an attempt , and with any throttle will pop out.

Does this sound like a syncro issue or anything in the tail area?
No warranty on trans,
Did not have problem before main t5 gear shaft was switched .

Don't want to buy another trans , just want to enjoy a V8 t5 again

Thanks

Shifter stops is the first thing I would check. Wouldn't be the first person to put a T5 back together, install the shifter and have the stop a little too close.

Short of that, anything else requires popping the trans open again for inspection. Did they switch out any of the 5th gear parts? Bent 5th gear fork and inspection of the 5th gear synchro slider and mating teeth on 5th would be where I start assuming it's not shifter stops
