heads or supercharger????

blowers are fun as hell but like someone else said, personally I like to start with a strong, healthy, hci foundation first then forced induction later.

oh and a supercharger kit IS a bolt on. if hci are considered bolt ons, why would a supercharger, which is less involved to install, not be?

That's personal pref, nothing wrong with that. But for a quick easy bolt on power adder without spending thousands for more work and same outcome the Bolt On kit will do just as well or better. Imo you won't see as much with just heads as compared to forced induction. Its all about the person, if they want power now or down the road. The route I'm going, I'm building a 331 while I drive my non modded engine with my novi. When I'm finished ill toss in the 331 and use the novi with it. And depending on my set up maybe a lil push n go. My .02

were good sometimes i hate talkin that HP game only reason i have my numbers is from the tune i didn't even have them in my sig then rick emailed me to put them in. I really believe if my car was dynojet dynoed right now it would make over 400RWHP rick said my car would make 400RWHP right after the mustang dyno tune but im not gonna waste money just to have it say 400 or better RWHP in my sig. To me a bolt on is something the average guy could do with average hand tools. Something that does not require expensive and specific tools nor require you to get to the "internals".
A supercharger kit is basically like if you had to do a fuel pump, intake, underdrive pullies and fuel pressure regulator all at the same time (yes I know there is more to it then that) and all of those are bolt ons.

I guess if you buy a longblock 427 stroker from dss, you could just BOLT it on, so its a bolt on too.

I had come to believe that the term bolt ons did not include power adders and heads, intake, cam and bottom end. But everything else is fair game and that the term is not to be taken in its literal sense.

putting a blower on is about the easiest thing you can do, way more of a BOLT ON than a seat of heads... there isnt even a gasket involved in doing a blower

On a 96+ Mustang I would way rather install a blower then a set of headers. Much much easier and you dont have to jack the engine up.

Supercharger. Why? Because you can always up the boost. Once the heads are on, you are done. When you have a supercharger, you can change pullies, add meth, add a power pipe. Lots of easy and cheap ways to up boost to gain even more HP. Did you see the last 5.0 mag. Pro-charger F1-A on a stock motored fox!!! Wicked!

I dont understand how it isnt a bolt on. perhaps one of the guys in the know can fill us in. to me, if you have to break into the motor its not a bolt-on. I definitely wouldnt call heads a bolt-on, but everyone else does.

I had the shop put on my blower, just from the stand point that i wanted it done right. I could of totally did it myself but i wanted someone who was experience to do it for piece of mind. I did the fule pump myself ahead of time.
Another reason i had them do it was so they could dyno tune it right on the spot and burn me a custom chip.

Could you do it?.....YES....Should you do it?.......Maybe NO

I welded myne right to the cylinder heads... prevents flex, and im a master fabricator, thats how i roll

blower installs arent for kids.

the fuel pump is harder/more dangerous than putting a blower on. Its a quicker job, yes but if you take your time with the blower install its cake really, not much harder than putting a p/s pump or alternator on.

the most intimidating part would be tapping the pan, but with every major blower manufacturer making a self contained kit, this is less of an issue than ever
