I have switched to a HEI unit and need to hook up the tach wire. Can anyone tell me which one to use? Pictures would be great. My car no longer has the duraspark unit, just the plugs where it used to be. I needed a new dizzy and this was the cheapest (flebay) and what I could afford. Any help? Thanx, mike.

if you are running an msd box, you need a tach adapter part #8920
you would need to pick up the lead from the tach that would have gone to the coil.
that wire will connect to the red wire on the adapter.

its a ahem..cough..ahem chevy type one wire dizzy with coil and module in one part that has been adapted to a 302. There are only two wires needed, one switched 12v for the coil and one for the tach. I need to figure wich wire runs the tach and all I have to do is hook it up and I'll get my tach back.

I went looking and the only thing I coulde find was " In 1974 FoMoCo changed how they derive their tach signal from the coil. Ford switched to the same style as G.M. and Mopar."

Or try here:

all dui systems have the tach right next to the power wire
pick up the lead that previously went to the tach that would have gone to the coil....same theory as the msd
