I cant go with a bigger cam because my block is the 86 and I have 1978 heads on it. I already have edelbrock intake bbk headers gutted H pipe flowmaster exhaust. So Im looking for some extra ponies and was wondering buying a HEI distributer for it would help much. What are the pro and cons on having one.

You might give it more than forty minutes in the middle of the night before you decide to give up.

Unless there's something wrong with your stock distributor, you're wasting your money. The original unit provides plenty of spark up to 400 hp. If you want better performance, take that $2-300 and apply it towards a set of 3.73 or 4.10 gears.

i have a summit hei dist. on my car... i doubt that one will give you any more hp than a stock unit.
i got mine because i converted to carb. and didn't want to wire up a duraspark ignition. but imo a stock dist. looks alot better, hei dist. are way too big to sit in the front of an engine.
