Hello Stang gang

I once bought a 1979 Mustang. Ordered it new, just how I wanted it. Nest year FORD advertised "At Ford we've increased quality 35%" Yeah, it showed in what I got. Having lost my mind recently I picked up a 1996 GT Convertible to tinker with. Here I am, tinkering. Twenty-eight years of low driving miles, poor maintenance, and a host of hacks, I'm making progress. Wish me luck.

And finally: You picked a good one to screw with. LoL There's lots of room for improvement. What are your plans and what do you want it to be?

Oh man, plans. When I got it in Scottsdale the young man had replaced it with a Tesla (his loss?) I want to replace the mufflers, someone deleted them. The drone on the drive from the Phoenix area to Flagstaff was grueling. I got some Magnaflows I think will work well. It needs tires like 4 years ago. Two are dated 2017, one is 2014 and one was mounted with the word "INSIDE" facing out. I have Pirelli's on order. Driver a passenger window motors were bad, got the passenger done but the glass separated from the carrier on the driver's. Tomorrow. Replaced the lock cylinder and door locks, trunk struts, serpentine idler and tensioner pulleys and the driver's door lock actuator. I need to flush the cooling sys, change the dif fluid, PS fluid, brake fluid and replce the AT pan with one that had a drain plug. The interior needs some love, the sun visors all but rotted away, needed an oem mirror with lights in it and the seats were replaced with not Mustang seats. But it has 99,700 actual miles. I got some leaks , ATF, coolant and yeah, oil. But I'm intrepid and philosophical about it. I almost bought a Lotus that has not run in 40 years. I might still, if this doesn't kill me.
One question though, my original owner's manual says 5W-30 but I see Ford is saying 5W-20. I'm leaning on the original spec since I'm in AZ even here at 7000ft it gets hot. n What do you think?
