Help bring American Iron racing to the Northwest

Help us bring the American Iron Series to the Northwest sanctioned by ICSCC.

American Iron™ is a race series that calls to mind the legendary battles of the
1960's when champions competed against each other to win stoplight and drive-in
bragging rights for their brand of choice.
American Iron™ provides a forum where domestic "pony cars" such as Ford
Mustangs, Chevrolet Camaros, and Pontiac Firebirds can challenge each other
equipped with the finest performance products that tuners and manufacturers have
in their arsenals.
The Series offers competitors three classes, Camaro Mustang Challenge (CMC),
American Iron (AI) and American Iron Extreme (AIX). The American Iron West
Series visits exciting courses and features some of the finest big-bore racing
in the United States.
The American Iron Series was created to meet the needs of domestic sedan racers
looking for a series specifically tailored to accommodate modified vehicles that
are currently relegated to
racing in Unlimited or Spec-limited classes. This class is designed to field a
large high-profile group of American Musclecars and will unify fields of cars
that currently race in other sanctioning organizations. This large field/open
modification concept will provide racers and vendors access to a promotional and
racing vehicle containing similarly prepared and appearing cars that can run
nearly unlimited configurations.

After consulting with some of the Board members of Conference and IRDC, we
believe there is a very good chance that a NASA AI spec class could be created
for the 2009 season. It appears that the best way to do so is work within
Conference as a racer in one of the member clubs (Cascade Sports Car Club,
International Race Drivers'
Club, Northwest Motor Sports, Sports Car Club of BC or Team Continental).
For this year you should run whatever class you currently do or SPO, as that
class most likely fits your car best. You should let your ICSCC Contest Board
Representative know
that you are running your current class but want them to vote for the creation
of an AI class when the November meeting comes about. You just have no other
place to run.
Racers that do not have a car ready this year should still join their respective
clubs and inform them of your intentions for 2009.
In October Bill will ask that the people interested in AI sign an affidavit
stating
their desire to run in an AI class for 2009. We need at least five (5) people
to sign the affidavit. We will bring the affidavit to the November Board
meeting and ask for the
creation of the class using NASA GCRs and AI sub-class rules.
The class must average 2.5 cars for the 2009 season and will then become a
sanctioned class for future years. The affidavit signups and numbers of members
required are as written into today's Conference rules. November 1st is the
deadline.

To all racers,

It's time to make your intentions known and sign on the bottom line.
We have to have a proposal and "intent to run" sign-up sheet before the ICSCC board before Nov 1.
I will submit the proposal, rules and sign-up sheets to the E-board.

After speaking with the Conference president it was made known that if we request an AI run group, but then don't fulfill the required 2.5 cars average over the length of the first season, no year end points will be awarded. If we fail to garner 2.5 cars again the next year the class will be dropped and we will have a very difficult time getting Conference to consider this class again.

A successful outing the first year will net us a sanctioned class.

In conversation with Conference they are willing to let an email (to me) suffice as a signed "intent to run".
We need at least 5 "intent to run" sheets before a run group solicitation can be made.
Please note that you MUST have a current SCCA, NASA, CACC or ICSCC sanctioned club license for 2008 to complete an "intent to run".

So let's try and make it successful by making sure you intend to run next year. Please do not sign up if you don't intend to run or are in a situation where that looks doubtful. I'd rather wait one more year and get enough people that will run than have this effort fail.

The "intend to run" email to me should state the following (and be to me by no later than Oct 31):
