Swapping from speed density to mass air - just got my conversion harness in from PMAS and their instructions list the "appropriate" computers as A9L, A3M, or A3M1 for a manual trans car. I have an A9M which is not listed under appropriate computers for auto or manual but I was previously told by others this computer would work fine for the conversion. REALLY don't want to get all the way through the conversion to find out this ECU won't work. Below is the exact label on the ECU:

EEC-IV SFI-MA12A A9M
E9ZF-12A650-BA G
61SM12AF02 23225-132 1B19

Anyone have any insight? Thanks in advance!!!

...spent some time researching and answered part of my own question:

http://fordfuelinjection.com/?p=17

computer is from a MAF auto car - will it work out ok in my manual trans ride? directions from PMAS say "damage to computer may result" but i've never heard that this mattered much before.

any guidance would be appreciated!

i'm not 100% positive, but you should be fine man. there are some ecu guru's here that'll chime in and confirm this.

The manual vs auto ecu's won't make a difference.
Run what ever you have...

I'm not sure why PMAS would warn you of ecu damage...
*EVEN IF * you install a MAF meter for the wrong application, it won't damage the ecu... just make the car run like crap.

The A9L and A9M use the same MAF Transfer, so you can swap MAF meters between the 2.
If you call PMAS, I'm sure they will confirm this...

A couple of the WOT tables look to be more aggressive by 2-4 degrees, in the A9M compared to the A9L.
If you have your timing advanced quite a bit, then you may need to back it off a little...
But that is the only difference I could see between the 2 tunes....
