alright so i just built my coupe. i put everything together and started it up. well it just dies instantly unless i can keep it revved up. until it warms up a little it will idle just fine. there is a big surge going on until it warms up. so tomorrow all i really established to do is clean the iac and see if that helps with the idle. what do you guys think i should do? btw there are not any vacuum leaks.

its a pretty mild set up, gt40 heads, cobra upper and lower intake with a 1in spacer, e303 cam, 70mm tb, 73mm mass air, stock distributor except msd cap and rotor, 19lb summit injectors. the motor ran perfect when i had it in my hatch

iac dirty or needs to be adjusted? mine does the same ( stock 302 ) and im assuming thats what needs to be cleaned and/or replaced since i have no vac leaks. I cleaned mine out and now its only every so often, instead of holding the throttle open for a few seconds, i just have to blip it when it dips once after start up and it holds itself. but i think mine is idling to high as well ( about 900-1000rpms )

Is the base idle set correctly?
Will it idle without the IAC connected on a hot motor?

You mentioned surging. Does it do this while holding the throttle perfectly steady? I'd want to check for vacuum leaks again.
