Okay, So I crashed my car.
Spun into a curb.
Snapped a rear wheel off the axle. I'm stupid.
I take it to this guy who looks around for a rear for a little bit he says I need new axle + gears... I have no way to tell whether he is lying or not. He said he finally found a rear and can get it for $1300. (+ install) I think its . I am in need of a rear badly, where is the best place to look? (I've called junkyards.) Anyone have one? I need help so bad..
Also, will a 87-93 rear end fit a 95 mustang? I know they are both 8.8, but what has to be done?

Thanks so much guys!

I'm not positive if it will work but this sentence suggests there might be some modification.

"WILL FIT UNDER SEVERAL OTHER FORD PRODUCTS OR WHATEVER ELSE YOU MAY WANT TO ADAPT IT TO."

Hopefully, someone who knows more will chime in? Also I read your other post how did you crash your car?

I think the pre 94 rear axle is different a little. It might mount differently.

Here is a place that sells a brand new axle with a 3.73 gear for $795

http://www.speedconcepts.net/product_info.php?products_id=211

You have to get axle shafts for that too, those are about $200 for 28 spline.

Okay guys, do you think this is bull****?

This guy I took my car to said he found a rear for 1300 dollars. That doesn't include labor. I told him I found a rear on the internet, and he said something about it having to be exact, blah blah.
If I buy a new rear, such as
http://www.speedconcepts.net/product_info.php?products_id=211
It should be able to be installed with no problem right.

The $1300 is The new axle + gears is not. Had a friend do the same thing to his 88 Firebird, and he was told the same thing about the gears. Snapping an axle puts a lot of force on the gears - they may be fine, they may be not. Best to replace 'em and be sure you won't have to rebuild the rear again.

He's probably telling you the online one won't work because he's trying to make more money. Otherwise he would probably put a used rusty rear diff in your mustang and he might buy it from the junkyard for $500 or even less.

Look around on the classifieds on corral.net to see if anyone in your area is selling it.
