I tried all the preceeding. I lubed the hoe with WD-40 all over and the thing wouldn't grab!! Pissed me off. I brought it to Ford and they said they tried to lube it (wow...they actually tried the cheap way) and they said the latch was broken. $200. There goes my smoked headlights. *sigh*

Sucks you didn't check salvage yards first before buying that part.

If it wasn't my DD or was something I could drive aroudn with, I would have replaced the part myself. However, driving to work at 55 with the hood bouncing isn't very comforting in the least. It was something that needed to be fixed asap. Sucks.

Pins on a stock 00 hood w/o a scoop?

I'll be getting a new hood after the blower goes in.

Now THAT'S a reason for pins.

This may sound wierd, but check the latch inside the car that releases the hood. is it "on-center?" Mine wasn't for a year, and it kept the hood latch closed a couple of mm which made it hard to close. Simple adjustment and problem solved.

Great advice for someone who may search this thread, buuuut I'll never know considering Ford is already in the midst of fixing it.
