HELP!!! Kenne Bell Won't Fit!!!

I bought a new kenne bell blowzilla flowzilla for my 95 cobra. Since I bought that I figured do a heads/ cam/ ported lower while I'm there. Well, Stud mounter rocker wouldn't fit under stock valve covers, so I bought the 4" tall ford racing valve covers. Figured the stock intake wouldnt fit so I also bought a 1" spacer. Come to find out the Kenne bell sets right on the top of the valve covers!!! What do I do now??? Buy a 1/2" spacer to go on top of the 1" spacer??? Where am I going to get bolts long enough for this? Also, Nothing fits under stock hood. Cobra R or Cobra RR Hood? Please help. Been wanting to crank up car for months now!!!

How close was the clearance with the stock valve covers? Fox offer a little more clearance then stock and look cool as well. Two spacers sounds like your asking for a vacuam leak.

I guess you could double up the spacers but it seems like a bad idea to me You're going to be hard pressed to find bolts long enough as is. The longest bolts I could find were just barely long enough for my Explorer upper. I'd say try to sell those VC's or exchange them for a different one or get some fox cover and hammer them to fit, get it running and find cool looking valve covers when you get the time.

But when you DO get it running, let us all know how it runs!

Where could I find bolts long enough to bolt down the kenne bell and the 1-3/8" spacer?

Don't forget you will probably need a new belt then too with that big of a spacer, and the rear of the flowzilla inlet may have some clearance issues with the pinch weld at the back of the firewall, I think it is really close there if memory serves me right.

Yeah I got my bolts at Home Depot, I got the longest they had, and they're barely long enough.

Fox vc's will be the easy out.

That way no spacer or KB mods because of that spacer is needed.

I run stud Scorpion rr's and they are really big.

You may be able to run your rr's with nothing but the oil splash thing removed. Just depends on how big your rr's are. Tons of threads have been done on running the fox vc's with stud rr's. Just search out the info you need.

for rocker and manifold clearance i went with the AFM chrome valve covers PN#: PKCVC. if my memory serves me correctly (going back a year and a half or so), they were about $75 (can definitely tell you they were under $100 shipped) and look and fit great and were very high quality. they come with the oil fill tube in the stock location as well as a ford motorsport breather. you may want to look into those as a good looking alternative to the fox covers. another plus is that there is no modification necessary since the AFM covers have no baffle as the fox covers do. i would definitely go the new valve cover route though before going with a stack of phenolic spacers. remember, a new set of valve covers will be much cheaper than an aftermarket hood + paint.

I would opt for the above AFM VCs...He's got a point with the hood/paint $$$$, nevermind the possible clearance Paul mentioned??? Somtimes its hassle after hassle...

If you really wanna get by then you'll have to make your own bolts...I did for my intake set-up to run the FRPP 4" VCs....cut and add in the lenght you need...someone who TIG welds good can do em right up...just make sure they keep em straight...
Place a gasket between every spacer...I had to run 2 gaskets on the lower and one at the upper...re-tq em after it heat cycles and check a week or so later...
Its an option to get you by for the moment??? Then you have your stock hood issue...Sounds like your kinda screwed....

If you go with a spacer, you better be prepared to either have a custom snout bracket made or severly modify the one you have. The snout bracket holds the front of the blower square but if you raise the blower the snout bracket will still be at stock height.

I'd try to get the stock VCs to work. If you get VCs with breathers, you'll need to plug the PCV vacuum source and rune a breather or line from there too - or else you'll have a vacuum leak.

I have a kb 1500 on AFR 165's using the stock valve covers. We went with stainless steel comp rockers #1134-16 (stud mount). Somewhat expensive; but they fit under the stock vc and prevented the various problems noted above that using a spacer would create.

Trickflow 1.7 rockers are huge. Couldn't even begin to set the stock ones down. I really don't want to grind on original parts either. Guess I am just learning the hard way.
