Well ever since i lowered my car, and ive scraped on quite a few things... some of them pretty bad... my exhaust has gotten quite loud, very drony, and when i floor it, its got a bad splatty sound to it. the exhaust sounds like its all around me instead of at the back of the car. tonight, when sitting next to a wall, i revved it up to about 1500 - 2000 rpm and held it, and my exhaust is making a random, almost thumping sound, almost like you thumped a bass woofer with your finger. soudns like its coming from the muffler section of the exhaust under the car. i took the car to the shop, and they plugged up the exhaust and said they couldnt find an exhaust leak. I dont know how well they checked though... What do you guys think? I dont have the ability to diagnose or fix this myself... could it be possible that i could've blown a muffler out (is that even possible?)? or does it definitely sound like an exhaust leak caused by me scraping my cats and possibly moving my exhaust out of whack? any help would be appreciated that could point me in the right direction towards getting it fixed.

you could have broken apart the baffling inside the muffler... or maybe somebody slote your magnaflows and installed flowmasters

is there anyway to find out if i broke apart the baffling? is this even possible, and how the hell could i have done that, and why would it have happened when i lowered my car?

i dont know for sure what happend.. but if you smash the mufflers into the ground you could have broken the internals of the muffler.. or another possibliity is you pushed the exhaust into contact with the body.. cauing you too hear droning

The mufflers could be shot, but it sounds like you have a definate leak, you should look into getting and aftermarket h or xpipe and a new catback, that should tone up your exhaust sound, and give you a few ponies

OKay, that sounds plausible... I've scraped and pushed and pulled under that thing on many obstacles, that i had no choice but to go over.. my cars a daily driver. (but not for long, thank you company car!)

muffler bearings might be shot:shrug:

i would check and make sure the connections to the manifolds are still nice and tight, might have knocked em loose

mufflers have bearings??? I'll have to check the connections to the manifolds, i have a feeling that may be it... thats where the headers bolt up to the engine, right?

he is messing with you about muffleer bearings..

one thing you can try is loosen all the hardware on your exhaust from the x-pipe back and retighen them.. this is supposed too take the tension off the exhaust.. ford calls it "neutrualizing the exhaust" we had too do this too some explorers in the late 90's with weird exhaust drones and other noises.

its the remanaphotostat and chrome platted muffler bearrings . naw sounds to me you crush the muffer and broke it inside andout jackit up and look. you cant be a southner and saying this .

My flowmaster mufflers have also began to do the same exact thing. Louder now than ever so I believe my mufflers are shot. They've been on there for quite some time, so it's time for a change anyways.
