A plan for more power. Of course!

My project this winter is to step up the power to at least 400 rwhp. My current setup makes about 280 rwhp (mods are at the link in my sig).

I see several distinct possibilities to achieve my goals:

1. Blower. In particular, I would probably select a Kenne Bell 2200.

2. Turbo. Single, probably T-64 PTK or Turbolocity.

3. Cubes. My choice would be 408W or 427W.

What do you guys think? I don't need sick power, I'm just looking for a wee bit more than what I've got now. At least for the moment .

I think you know my recomendation

The biggest problem i see with boost is you WILL push the limits of the block, maybe not at first, but when u get greedy u will.

Compare all the prices. Going to a 408+ will be the most expensive. But you will have a built up shortblock and big power n/a. Plus you need to pass emmisions right? so take that into account.

Yes I do .

I think the N/A route would probably end up being the most expensive, but it might be a close race with the turbo. The KB would be slightly cheaper.

As for emissions, I do worry that building up a nice N/A combo may be a bad idea for that -- as it is I'm worried about passing emissions with the cam I have now. I could run a more emissions friendly profile with boost.

But then there's that damn headgasket problem, which doesn't usually occur with an N/A motor.

Tough choice. I would go with the blower simply for ease of install (relatively speaking) and that it would be the cheapest. You already have the H/C/I so I think you would be making some real good power with a blower. Of course a turbo will do the same thing and might only be a little more expensive after all is said and done. If you have money burning a hole in your pocket go with a 347 or a big Windsor.

First of all, why is your fti/afr set up not making anywhere near the power it should? I'd look into that before thinking of throwing boost on it.

My personal opinion is if 400rwhp is what you want, do a stock block n/a 347. That will get you 400rwhp. If money isnt a concern, I wouldnt hesitate to follow yellow1995 and do a nice 408 stroker with a set of afr 225's, fti cam and stuff. That WILL make well over 400rwhp but it will cost you. 351 blocks are stronger than stock 302 blocks. I'm in the process of deciding on my next combo which will be a n/a 347, but i'm trying to finalize the entire combo like who's gonna port the heads and such. Good Luck!
