Looking at a Quincy QT5 or an Emax 7.5 hp.... I would get the Emax 5 hp, but it does not come with a mag starter.....
Both are around $3K both have mag starter
Emax has its " quieting" air intake which is supposed to make it voice level quiet ..... Both are 220, Single phase, 2 stage 175 psi, both are splash lube.... I would like to get a pressurized oil system, but I have to put a stop to the price somwhere....... Quincy has a 1000 rpm speed while the Emax has a 1750... I will not even consider a 3400 rpm pump.....
I really don't need this much compressor but everything else I look at is just not what I consider very good quality....

I am hedging towards the Emax, although the Quincy is really nice too...... Both are made in the USA.....

Anyone have either one of these???

I used to fix work trucks for a guy that owned a compressor company
He sold and serviced them all
I know he liked Quincy

Kinda glad the hurricane came as I almost went off kilt here and spent alot of money... I keep on looking for " better" compressors and was going the way of " disc valves and Pressurized oil systems in the air pumps.....
I like buying good stuff, but that was starting to go a bit overboard.....
I have decided that I really don't need one right away but I plan on doing some sanding, primering and maybe painting on my new car project so I will have to upgrade from the $100 POS Harbor Freight compressor I have....

I have been using Sears compressors for 20 years. Had 3. One lasted a long time and I gave it away because the plastic housing cracked. Next one leaked on day one, so I took it back. That one lasted 10 years and died. Got the new one, a standup 5 hp, from Lowes. Working fine. I get these because I can buy parts if needed, and they are easy to get.

To bring this ;post to a conclusion I did get a Quincy QT-5 compressor... Way more than I need but really well built from what I can tell....
going to adjust the pressure switch down from its max 175 PSI.... Probably to 150... Was told this really adds life to your pump life if you don't need the high PSI.. If you see my other post on here about what to run for piping in my garage please comment on it... TY all
I really didn't need this yet, but Rural king kept sending me emails with reduced pricing... Had to bite on the last one.. $2500..... These are online for $3500..... I need this for my " new " project, but I want to get the Mustang done before I start on it....

The New project..

Quincy got bought by Atlas Copco several years back and they actually did something you don't see much anymore, they made the Quincy units better. How you ask by making them simpler and using Atlas Copco parts. We run a Quincy unit (rotary style) at one of our facilities and it is pretty much flawless. Good choice!

Very nice new project, 66, right?
I happen to have a 69 427 motor out of a Corvette
Good choice of compressors
Watch a few videos from a guy in new York who details and paints million dollar Porsches
His YouTube channel is AMMO NYC
His dust extraction system was 30k and he is meticulous to say the least
They have their own brand of polishes etc., but I just watch the videos and learn body

Its a 65 and the pics are before I bought it.. ... finally figured out how to work my camera pics on my computer again so some pics might show up... Could do a build on it, but probably the wrong forum...LOL
" Back in the Day" , when these cars were fairly new I went on a cruise the local Corvette club was having... A friend was a member... While merging onto the I-5 freeway everyone stepped on it... There were some 435 horse BB's but the fastest thing I watched was a 70 LT-1 car that took off like a rocket....
Most of my friends had 2nd gen Z28 camaro's..... The 70 Z28 cars were just scary fast.....

I believe the one I have is a 375 horse or so
It has the smaller port closed chamber heads
Bought it from a guy who had 5 corvettes and he insisted it was NOT a Corvette engine
From what numbers I can see, it sure looks like it was
