Hello,

I'm new here. I went racing today. When I was going home I see smoke coming out the back of my car. I look under the car and I see Tranny Fluid coming out. I get home, and apon further inspection I see that it is coming from the tailshaft. It leaked alot. When these seals go do they leak alot??? Do you think I did any damage to my transmission??? I checked the fluid level and It was in the cold area. By the way my car is an 03 Auto GT. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Bragg

It is common for there to be a small leak there. However, after a hard day at the track it sounds like yours developed a more serious leak. Mine drips about 1-2 drops per day on the garage floor and many others have reported a similar leak rate.

You will need to have that seal replaced. I wish I knew more about the difficulty/cost of the job as I need to perform it myself.

Thanks for the reply. I went under the car and I see that the seal is completely out. It blew tranny fluid everywhere. I will have to either tow it or I will have to drive it to my mechanic and have it fixed. It is a peice of plastic that is white, that is the seal. You think Ford would make a better seal seeing how that is how we get our power to the ground.
