Ok, so i work at a shop with a bunch of losers that all say carbs are better than fuel injection, Superchargers and Nitrous are for pussies blah blah blah. Its very obvious that they are all jealous of my car, considering non of them have had a faster car in there life. Any way, this is what really funny, this guy rags on my car about how he is GOING to build a Mopar that will totally blow my doors off. So I ask you Who wins this race.

A 1991 Mustang with
A D.S.S 331 Level 10 Stroker with Girdle and windage tray, 9:25:1 Comp with a vortech strim at 12 psi and Edelbrock Heads. Just dynoed 512 rwhp on 93 octane.

or

a 1969 Dodge Dart with a 360 bored .030 with stock heads shaved .030, and 12:5:1 Compression.

Keep in mind these are both street cars full weight, full interior, no drag lites on drag radial tires. If these cars had equal drivers Who Wins???

any foxbody with a decent h/c/i will put just about any old car to shame....especially if you have the rear end and suspension setup, you just cant beat the weight of our cars. I dont think Ive ever had a problem putting any other RWD car to shame out of the hole on the street. Its almost like a joke.

While there have been some stout small block mopars over the years, hes gonna need more than a slightly warmed over 360 to touch a 331 fox.

I helped a friend budget-build (large emphasis on the 'budget') a 73 Dart Sport 340 a few years ago, started with a stock 340 with cam and headers running mid 14's on M/T bias cheater slicks and after a bunch of cheap upgrades (accelerator pumps, used rpm air gap intake, advanced timing, new exhaust, gutted interior) we got it down to 12.7. maybe 300rwhp or so at 2800lbs.

It's not impossible for a small block mopar to go 11's, but i think you'll be ok

unless you just spin the tires like crazy I don't there there's any way a n/a 360 can touch a supercharged 331. Now a 360 against a 351 might be a different story.

That 360 would get murdered. Your 512rwhp is no joke. I think it would be tough for that 360 to see that without a lot of work if at all. Most 440's barely see 12's up here unless they have major work done and a lot of weight reduction.

You have to be careful with Darts! A guy at the track has a 360 crate motor in a 69 charger that runs high 12's. (I think there rated at 380HP) But dart's are A LOT lighter!
What does he do in the 1/4?

440 6-packs run in the 12's all day with traction and a good driver!

There's always going to be those deutsche bags who will talk smack whenever they can. Tell him if its going to be a battle of "what you're going to build", you'll have built a 357 Windsor to match his 360 and blow his doors off Anyway, I don't see how a mild 360 on an antique suspension would touch a blown 331 with a four link. Mopar guys always seem to have a chip on their shoulder, but you have to give them credit, (like us) they're more faithful to their brand than Chevy guys are.

Do you really just want to shut him up? If so, the only way to do it is say, yeah, you'd probably beat me. Otherwise this will go on forever. Even once he's built his car and you race. If he loses, then there must have been something wrong with his car, and he'll keep talking. The only way for this to stop is to allow him to shoot his mouth off, and not return fire.

FWIW, I've read a few tests where they test the same motor with carb vs injection and as I recall, the carb won every time in HP. That being said, I prefer injection.

Just sounds like to me. Another one of those guys "I'm going to get this, do this, this, this, and that and it'll be so much better and faster than you car". And you can tell they really don't know wtf their talking about.

It's like those guys with the 17 second civic's removing the entire interior and calling it a race car.

At sea level maybe, not around here. Guess it depends on where you live. Usually the 440 cars are all 4000 pound monsters too. Satelites, Chargers, etc...

appreciate the comments guys. If you knew this guy at work, youd know "HIS CAR" is never going to get built, its the simple fact that he runs his mouth everyday and how hes such a better driver, he wont need as much money as i did in building my car, but im taking the ones guys approach and im just going to agree with him, "Yep, youll be faster"!!

well, personally i do think that nitrous is for pussies unless its a full blown drag car and you need every ounce of power. superchargers are awesome. but also, carb is alot simpler, better throttle response, and you can get more power from a carb'd engine than injected. but as for the race, u have it down.

ill advised

I wouldn't even entertain some hypothetical race. It's just giving him more room to bench race and b.s. People like that, eventually you have to forego the modest route and nip it in the bud. Nevermind all the ifs, ands, or buts. "What do you got right now? My car is right there. Ready and waiting. Until you're ready to line up, stfu." If it's all fun and jokes then that's different but this guy sounds like a genuine $h!t talker and doesn't have a leg to stand on.
