Im looking at this as a daily driver:
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.j...y_style=WAGON&doors=&fuel=&lang=en&cardist=19

Any thoughts.??

What Im looking for:

1. economy.
2. roomy enough for my kids and maybe haul some plants/groceries, etc.
3. low maintenance fees.

Im not sure how pricing, reliability, etc is on this car, but it's in the price range and I "think" the fuel economy is ok.

COmments

Mike...Im not to sure about pricing on these, but that price looks "too low" for what they advertise...It could be the mileage (not stated) or something else, huh?

Do you know what kind of mileage they get.?

Of those three, I vote for the Subaru Outback. Throw a new fender on there and drive it. The fact that the other two have N/A mileage and EXTREMELY low prices, they seem a little shady to me. Plus I think the Outback is a generally better looking car, not to mention the obvious benefits of AWD.

Im concerned about Price of repairs, and I know that insurance is more on the AWD.

Here's another

This may be the one, and it's still available.

Both of my parents have saturns and so do I. My father gets mid 30's I think for mpg on the highway. He has the twin cam sc2 model. I usually get around 30mpg or a little less with around town/highway mix. They are basically low maintenence cars. Put gas in, change the oil and go. All our cars have over 120k on them. My exhaust is broken so the car is loud and sounds like sh it I would get better mileage with a fixed exhaust. I paid $1300 for it last year.

Well my mother-in-law and sister-in-law have Saturns sedans, one is a 94, other is a 96,both are SOHC. Neither have had any problems, really. I know the 94 has been driven several times from Iowa to Florida....

Looked at MSN's car stuff they indicate that the 1997-2000 years have had significant problems with the cylinder heads, intake manifold gasket, crank position sensor, coolant temp sensor, failures on the SOHC motor only.

Gas mileage is indictated as 25 city 36 highway for the auto....27 city 38 highway for the 5spd.

I don't have any personal experience with them. MSN lists the 1997 as having minimal problems in all areas and low cost of repair. I'm guessing that's what you are looking for? 1996 and lower show a occasional issue with dirty MAF but since you own a Mustang that shouldn't be a problem. The gas mileage is similar to the Saturn wagon. I've read that they are a little cramped for people around 6', but then so are Mustangs

Just stay away from a black 2003 Ford Taurus A.K.A. "Airborne" The oil drain plug is completely rounded (not coming off) due to a 3 foot landing in a Walmart parking lot. Pulls to the right after launching it in the Turnpike median at 60MPH. Oil hasn't been changed in a real long, long time.

I feel sorry for the people who get our cars after we are done with them. The company sends them off to the leasing dept. then to auction. Blew the tranny out 4 of my last cars. Should you not bounce it off the rev limiter then drop it in drive?
