So my 02 gt does this weird thing when I accelerate quickly. All gauges max out then go back to what they were at. All lights in the cluster turn on. It seems like my car restarts or something but I’m driving while it does this. It’s so weird.

The cluster gauge sweep is a dead give away that power has been lost.

Do you want an educated guess? Since the problem happens during high RPM's, how about an alternator problem such as alternator brush "bounce"? The brushes and slip ring are worn to such an extent that when the RPM's are high the brushes loose contact to the slip rings. This causes the alternator's field winding to collapse. No field winding = no alternator output.

Bottom line. Today's cars simply will not run right without a strong battery and charging system.

Here's some information that may help. Pay attention to the part about rebuilding your own alternator as it may help you to understand what a slip ring and brushes are.

Once the charging system is in tip top shape, then it's time to do the more difficult trouble shooting.
