This is the front of the x pipe close to where it kinks up toward the header. Is that crap on the pipe coming from the cable? Or is that something else?

Before the cable was making contact with the pipe but I've tampered with the crime scene.

This is where the cable comes up to, it is the gray one in the middle of the picture. Is it the speedo cable????

Any help is appreciated thanks

Speedo cable is the one with the big rubber grommet around it (at the firewall)

I've never seen the inside of a speedo cable, but that sure does look like one.

Yeah, that was probably the plastic sheathing of the cable (the wires are obvisouly the structure beneath)

Are you having trouble with the speedo? (wonder if it still works I mean)

Yes, that crap dripping is the cable lube, & yes it is your speedo cable; been there, done that.

My speedo cable looked just like that for years before it finally died.
:Word:

The plastic melts onto the pipes. It may stink, but doesn't mean the cable is trash. You just loose corrosion protection. And be sure not to kink the support wires that are now exposed. If they make contact with the inner cable you could start hearing some odd noises.

So where would a clutch cable be on a T5 car?

I thought the big gromet was for a clutch cable?

on factory autos the speedo is routed throught the clutch hole. when you swpa to 5 speed you simply relocate the speedo.

on another note, the vaccum hoe going from the tree to the upper intake ir routed incorreclty also
