I am going to buy new rear tires today, they will be 18", and I have seen them and selected them, they are 275/55/18 I believe, and are drag radials or the closest thing to them.

I will get 2 new 18" rims also, 18 X 9, 9.5 or 10 right away because my supplier says he is raising all of his prices by 20 percent plus applicable taxes on Friday - the day after tomorrow.

Could you experts please tell me if the 275's will fit on the rear, with a standard offset, in fact: a set of 2007 Shelby rims? I see no issues in the wheel wells, no obstructions whatsoever.

I am just returning to RWD 1/4 mile racing after over a 30 year break working and raising kids, but competing discretely, privately (not my fault - the boys with their tuners would not leave the old man alone, and teased us over my daugther's quick little Cavaliers, Grand Am & Z24, now G6 GT until they learned their lesson - take it to the track and share their losses before a legit crowd of witnesses) with sport compact performance/show cars, FWD, while driving trucks, vans & Jeeps getting groceries.

I don't know a lot about the new Mustangs, 2005 and up, except that I had to have one. I got the V6 to "tune" it, for daily driving, for fuel efficiency and as a sleeper. Tuning, esp. the 4 cylinders of the last decades - it's what I do. I had 5 V8 Mustangs before I was 20, this is finally Quarter Horse # 6.

So, don't worry about issues, except clearance and fit please. I have the Hypertech Max Energy chip to adjust to tire size and will definitely change automatic shift points, cold air, exhaust plans that might include headers and I will soon get brand new 3.73 gears to lauch against Camaros and Chargers, other 6 cylinders, I hope.

I have a few goodies, estimate 271 hp. and my goal is to reach 300 such as a 2010 base Camaro, it won't take me long to reach that, I'm in a big hurry.

Thank you.

I ran a Nitto DR 305/45/18 in the back without an issue. That was with the car lowered an inch. It never rubbed even on hard launches. That (305/45/18)size is a 28" tire. Good luck.
