I was driving my 2003 GT (no real mods) yesterday and everything was going good. Went around a corner at an intersection and the car started losing power until it wouldn't go anywhere. I have a fuel pressure gauge and it was down to a hair above 0 so obviously I was thinking fuel pump. It would restart and idle alright, but you couldn't get it to go anywhere which I would assume is due to the residual pressure in the line. It will not start and idle anymore though. The fuel tank is a little over a 1/4 tank so I am assuming that there is a little over a 1/4 tank of gas although you don't hear it sloshing around a whole lot when you move the rear of the car around. I checked the fuse in the fuse box behind the battery and it is fine. The switch in the trunk is good, the button is down.

Is there a relay that I could look to, or anything else for that matter?? I was told by Ford it was most likely the pump. Since I am going to do it myself anyway it isn't a big deal I just wanted to know if there was something easier to look at or test first.

Please give me some ideas...

I'm still new to the 4.6, but in my 5.0 I had the same problem. There was four things to check. First, make sure you have gas...I know duh, right? Second, there was a relay under the passenger seat for the fuel pump. Third, check the voltage on the pump, and last make sure the cut-off switch didn't pop.

Now, where your relay is (if there even is one), you're going to have to check that out, I don't know.

Like I said, I'm new to the 4.6, but turn the key and listen to see if the pump primes the system. If it does then it's not the relay for sure.

i agree if the fuel pump primes the system with the key in the on position then the system beofre the pump is but dosent mean that the pump itself is ok cause it may have enough juice to prime it but not to keep it on

our pumps are much different than the old style reurn fuel system in the 5.0's

I have seen this problem many times since the entire ford product line now uses the same fuel pump system and the mustang..

It's the fuel pump.
