I'm replacing the upper control arm bushings that are located in the axel housing. I bought a set of stock style (TRW brand) bsuhings from Advance auto parts.
Do the stock style bushings require the old metal sleeve to stay in the axel housing?
Unless your replacement bushings come with the metal sleeve, generally you're going to reuse the old ones.
I drilled away at the rubber of the old bushings until I removed enough to hammer them out of the sleeve. I've heard burning them out is effective too.
