I really have a problem, there are sparks coming from around either the water pump or the crank pully the car will start but it misses badly i can pull a plug wire completly off and it runs the same i only found out about the sparks last nite after i had allready pulled the upper off to check all my rockers and springs they were all fine so i put new plugs wires cap rotor & msd coil. So all i know now is there are sparks coming from rite up front.Could my water pump locked up? What should i check or do next has any one ever had this problem???

if they're blue sparks, check the installation of the the ignition components you mentioned. you might have mixed up a ground wire and a hot wire somewhere . red/orange sparks would indicate some metal contact along with a wretched grinding noise. if the water pump seized up you would be able to see the pulley not turning and the belt smoking. good luck

look around the balancer, car not running, see any big gouges, all the hardware there/tight and secure, check around the entire serpentine sytem, again inspecting for gouges/missing hardware, anything obvious. the color of the sparks is not all inclusive, still could be electrical.inspect everything you touched in that area, keep in mind you want to inspect the area, might have knocked something off/loose. as much as you probably don't want to, fire the car up and try to pin point the origin, maybe have a frien standby at the key to shut down quick if you need to. key on engine off, sparking? electrical power coming from battery, isolate from there. don't think a balancer would shoot sparks by itself. good luck man
