I am finally going to re-install the air conditioning that the previous guy removed for some stupid reason. I finally got the blower motor to work, though it only works on high. I am thinking its the blower motor resistor, so I am going to order a new one of them. Also, the air only blows through the defroster vents right now, which I am sure is a vacuum issue. When I pulled the controls forward, I found there is a loose vacuum line from the ac/vent/defrost control switch, it is black with a yellow stripe, and appears it should attach to one of those bell house vacuum things (not sure what its called). From reading other posts, they talk of a yellow vacuum line. I only have a black, red, white and blue lines. The white goes to the blend door and the black, red and blue go up towards the windshield. Also, the cable from the cold/hot control is just hanging loose, where does that attach to? I have both the chiltons and haynes manuals, and neither are very helpful on this.
EDIT: I got the problem resolved. The black line with yellow stripe is the same as the yellow line mentioned on other posts. I connected it to the vacuum motor (i think that is what it is called) located above the accelerator pedal. The black line that comes from the engine bay was just shoved up in the dash, and the line from the tree in the engine bay has been sealed off. I used a manual vacuum pump (for bleeding brakes) and connected it to the black hose, turned the dial to vent and pulled a little vacuum on it, the air started blowing from the vents. So, I am now on my way to the parts store to buy some vacuum hosing to go from the tree in the engine bay and snake it through the firewall and connect it to the black line behind the glove box area. Hopefully it all works out and later this week when I begin the A/C re-installation, I'll have cold air.
