When I first bought my 2003 GT I noticed a slight squeaking whenever the car was in neutral and idling. When I depress the clutch slightly, it goes away. I thought nothing of it because it was not that bad. 50,000 miles later, it is MUCH more noticeable now. You can even hear it over my Flomasters!

I have checked my clutch my crusing at 10 miles an hour - putting the car in 4th gear and punching the gas peddle to see if the engine high-sides. Seems to be good.....

What can I do to fix this squeak?!!!! Thanks for all your help.

its caused by the throw out bearing. some people replace it, some try to get around it. i myself just got in my new quadrent, clutch cable, and firewall adjuster. I believe that my squeak is caused because my cable is stretched, so i am replacing it all and getting the propper length to ensure it goes away.

Thanks Torinalth... I appreciate your quick response! I have never replaced a Throwout Bearing. How difficult is it on a 2003 GT? Also, I was thinking of getting the Steeda Quad/Adjuster/Cable Kit. Do you think this would be a good time to get this mod as well?

Thanks again.

How much millage do you have ? Instead of replacing it you should first try to oil it.

that kit is pretty damn cheap considering all of those parts are wear items that come from the factory..... even though your car is an 03 the cable COULD stillb e stretched, the quad can bend as well since its plastic. i chose now to do it and got a GREAT deal on it, so i couldnt pass it up. shoot a line to stangpro as he has some great deals for the pieces.

as far as replacing the TOB, i dont recommend it, you have to remove the entire clutch assembly, and for that cheap of a part i'd do everything else first, up to and including changing the exhaust to be louder then the squeak before i'd go the replacement

SRM - i tried to oil mine and it didnt do anything.... hence why i think its because my cable is stretched.... Garrett may have better luck with the oil though....

So how do you oil the TOB? I have never heard of that before.

use either lithium grease in a spray can, or get some engine oil and more or less hose it down... but the grease is the prefered choice. make sure its cold though, spraying just after driving will just burn the grease... but once its cold, hose down the bearing. its the smaller circle that more or less is the moving point when you push the clutch in.
