Help with drag strip??? Why not faster.

like everybody said you shoudl be well into the 13s but you know that. I don't think your 60fts are that bad for street tires. And NED does'nt have the best traction thats for sure. So thats not helping the situation but practice and drag radials are going to help for sure. Though i see you up there all the time so its not like your new at it. I guess hope for good temps and decent traction and go at it. Car is more than capable of mid 13s for sure. Good luck man :flag:

LOL OH AND i SAW THOSE TO v6 MUSTANGS RACING THERE LAST WED....That was the first time I saw v6 stangs at the track
Yeah, my roomates are both stock. 16.1 (Mineral Grey, his 3rd visit to track) and 16.4 (Sonic Blue, first visit). The green V6 ran a 15.0 @ 90 with $4k in mods, all the bolt ons, cams, and 8.8 rear end. The blue V6 ran a best of 14.9 that I saw, he said his best was a 14.4 last season. All the bolt ons and a lot of suspension. The blue V6 told us he was hoping to run high 15's before the racing started (We were 2nd in the staging lanes) and after he ran a freaking 14.9 we were like  Then he told us he tricked us and he has run a 14.4  I wouldn't believe him except for that fact that he ran 14.9 on that first run of the night!!

My friend in the GrandAm wants to go again next Weds, I don't know if I want to go yet. All I can do is gut my car and hope for better times. Did you race? I didn't see a redfire there that night but we left ~9 PM, my last run was the worst. Traction off the line sucked. Plus we were starving and bugs were getting really annoying.

I made my old 2002 GT cry when I took it at the drag strip and pulled a 13.9 @ 100mph with only an offroad H and CAI.

You need to practice driving and you will be OKAY.
I have ~45 some passes under my belt with a best of 13.706 @ 100 with MAF and shifter. I beat the crap out of my poor car at the track... :( But I figure even with a 2.1 60' or even a 2.2 60' I should easily hit 14.0 with 255rwhp?

I may go again this upcoming Weds. I'd gut the car (sub, spare, tools, other junk) and go get weighed before too.

Try this

Drop some tire pressure to 20 lbs
Dont do a burnout on street tires it makes them have less traction
I dropped it to 20 PSI on the last run, I had a horrible time hooking. Plus, I don't really do a burnout, I just spin them for 1/2 second up to the staging lights to clean the gravel/dirt off from driving through the staging lanes...

U will be at the track this coming WED JonJon? What color/year stang u have? I will look out for you. :nice:
We're not sure which day since my friend works and he's the one that really wants to go. Friday he isn't working, but it's not a very good day for me since I have to move out. Weds is better for me but he has to work. If I'm going to go Weds, I'll send you a PM.

I've got a rio red 99 with 03 Cobra rims.

Ok

I was at the track last night....ran 5 times...and my best time was 15.0
Last season my best time was 14.390. The traction on the track hasent been to good so far (yes, I blame it on the track!)

doh. yesterday looked real nice too.
What was your 60' and 1/4 trap speed?

Dude,
Take your boat off before you race!

Just kidding, do you still have your 16 inch rims you ran 13.7 with? Get some DR's for those and save some money and also you can save the tires for the track. That's what i want to do.

60' sucks ass dude. No excuses that you can't get 1.8-2.0 60' on street tires with your setup. But it does sound like your tires suck complete ass. If you are spinning 2nd that bad and some of 3rd with the power you have you NEED BETTER TIRES. Don't think you have to jump to DRs or Slicks. There are plenty of street tires that are alot better than Kuhmo. Just invest in better tires and you will get better numbers.
