Is the a way to seperate the outer and inner door skins? I need to get into the latch and locking mechanisms. Way too small for a human hand to get into and change parts.

Are you saying that you can not get to the mechanism from inside the car with the window up after removing the vinyl panel? I am confused how you know what was broken without gaining access first?

Hmmmm. Well, I would not consider removing the outside skin at all for this typ of fix, it's best to just remove the whole lock and work on it utside of the door then. The lock should remove easily. Once you have taken out the two or three bolts from the outside of the jam, reach inside and unhook the three rods that connect the lock to the outer latch, inner latch and button at the top of the window. They are only held in place my a retaining clip. Just push the clip open at the ned of each rod and the whole lock assembly will come right out. Actually when it is just unbolted you may have enough play to fix it without disconeccting the rods. The clips are stubborn but removal is easy.
