Gday lads,

Ive had my 68 for about 4 years now and the 302W has gone and chewed a cam bearing on me and snapped the camshaft.

Ive been offered a 351C and C6 tranny to put in but im just wondering can it be done and what sorta problems am i gonna come across in reagrds ti things like tailshaft and crossmember.

I tried the search engine but to tell you the truth itd ****ted me to tears so just poster this.

Any help would be so greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Josh

In 69 and 70 the 351W and 351C were put in Mustangs, The 68 is pretty close to the 69 under the car. So some 69 Motor and trans mounts should make it a fit. They put a 428 in the 68 mustang, I would guess a 351 wouldn't be that hard.

Did the C6 come out of a Mustang/cougar. They have a floor shifter, colum shifters require some bending and or welding of the shift arm out of the trans.

Funny, I was standing in the Ford showroom in 1968 when a friend was ordering a 69 Mach 1. The engine options were 351W 2 bbl 351W 4bbl and 351 Cleveland 4bbl. But then Grabber may have had Ford on the phone.
The close ratio 4Speed cost more than the engine option.

The 351C was in development but was not yet available.

The 1969 BOSS 302 was, in effect, a 302 Cleveland. The 351C used the BOSS 302 head design.

Ford started stuffing the 428 into the 1967's, but it had to have the Shelby name.

351's can be stuffed into any of the early early Mustangs, just later years easier then early 1st Gen's.
