Help with my 94

My step dad wants me to get a different block so we can get it bored out an it will take less time from my car being down.

I have a 94 GT Mustang

My first question is what year Ford 302 Blocks are the same as the 5.0 i have in the my car now. The reason i ask is because i want to keep it fuel injected and want everything to bolt the same back up.

All help would be appreciated.

Second question is i need some suggestions with tuning. What should i do.

This is what we are doing to the new block, a 331 stroker kit, i have ported gt-40 aluminum heads, ported Professional products Intake (Typhoon) with a 75 mill throttle body, 24lbs bosch injectors, cold air intake, with a gernelli mass air sensor ( i know i spelled that wrong) with 3.73 gears.

So what should i do with the Tuning, I live in Southwest Michigan so anyone no of any place that will tune it for me. Or what kind of chip or what, my dad an step dad don't know anything about computers, an neither are ford fans.

I know i am asking a lot but i just need help, thanks.

You can use a block from back in the Fox days with no prob

As for a tune ... Do it yourself or have a Pro burn you a chip

Those 24's are on the small side unless you up the pressure a good bit

I'd go with a 347 as opposed to a 331

This is my first engine build, i wanted to start out small, and once im done with college i want to build a engine from block up, everything new.

So for the burned chip, there was one on summit that said call an tell them what your doing so they will make it for you, is that what your talking about.

You could use a 302 block from any year and your EFI stuff would bolt back up, so that's no problem. The biggest issues would be whether or not it's a roller block and if it uses a one piece, or two piece rear main seal. If you use a block from 1985 or newer, you'll get a roller, one piece rear main seal block.

Also, go 347 over 331 if you haven't purchased anything yet. No reason to give up an additional 16 cubic inches when the price is usually the same. Look into 30, or 36lb injectors. The 30's would probably be closer to ideal, but I don't believe FRPP sells them anymore. Which Granatelli MAF are you using? As far as tuning goes, you could do it yourself if you're willing to learn. It'd cost about $400 for the hardware and software both, but you'd be all set. All you'd really need is a laptop with a USB port. Those can be had on eBay for next to nothing.

Ive already bought everything.

So for the block use a one after 85 which will be the same block that i have in my car now.

Could you tell me what the program thing off Ebay is called. I have tried looking them up and i only find chips. I would much rather do the laptop an programs, instead of keep having chips made

The program itself is useless without the accompanying hardware (either a Moates Quarterhorse, or TwEECer). This is the software that I was referring to, and you could use either this or this to do the tuning. I have the TwEECer, but only because the Quarterhorse wasn't available when I made the purchase.

So i get the software on my Computer, then buy either the QuarterHorse or the Tweecer an just learn how i want it.

Which was is easier. Which would you suggest.

They actually use the same software, so the learning curve is identical. I'd get the QH nowadays. Less money and it has the ability to modify the tune without having to turn off the engine to write it to the tuning device.

So would a 302 out of a 89 F150 be the same block as the one i have in mine.

Sorry so many questions, don't know much about Ford Blocks.

GT-40 Aluminum heads ported an polished
Ford Racing 1.6 rocker arms
Did have a e303 cam but today i ordered a COMP Cams Xtreme Energy Cam with a intake duration at 230/274
75 mill throttle body
JE Pistons 4.030

I am just going to leave the 24lbs injectors for a little while and then change them, i can't take them back so i should get some use out of them lol.

does anyone have a idea of what kind of hp i will get out of this. I am thinking i will get a ton but would love it if i could get at least 100 more with all the upgrades.

24s will do just fine on those heads. HP is hard to say. 300rwhp should be attainable.

Did you already order the MAF? The reason I ask is, if you're already planning a TwEECer, or Quarterhorse, you can pick up a much better MAF for A LOT less money. You'll just need to load a calibration for it with a tuning device if you choose to go that route.

I actually got it for 75, my buddy bought it, put it on his car, started it, took it off an decided he didn't want it, so i bought it from him.

Ah, I gotcha. Definitely hard to argue with that deal when it goes for $259 new! The one I had in mine (90mm Lightning MAF) was only $85 on eBay. You would've needed an adapter for the harness though, and that usually runs another $30.

ok i ran into another problem, was wondering if anyone could help.

My Rod bearings are becoming a problem. the 20 and 30 over one is to much, an the other is not enough. my step dad used a dial or mic whatever its called an said the ideal bearing would be a .25, but they don't make anything like that.

Does anyone have a 331 stroker that could help me or anyone know that could help me.

This is the last thing that is holding me up.

This car is taking forever an is being a pain in the ass. Right now we are waiting for the engine to get back from being balanced which was taken to the shop before July 4th an it isn't done yet.

Are you dragging this thing? I've heard that the Zoom clutch is hard to get used to in a daily driver but that was a while back.
