im about to get a nitrous kit, and i need some input. ive put alot of zex dry kits on imports and love them. my question is what is the most you guys would put on a basically stock motor(speed density). i was thinking about going around 150 but im not sure how safe that would be. i know i would have to run 93 octane, and bring the timing down to atleast 8° initial, and run cooler plugs, but what else?? anybody ever used any other dry kit and have some input? please let me know. thanks in advance.

well if you have stock compression or lower i wouldnt worry about retarding the timing. Im gonna keep mine at 14 and run a 100 shot, i have stock crank, rods and forged pistons.

Sounds like ya pretty much got everything under controll.
Rule of thumb is 50% of whatever you car makes stock. I know several people that run a 150 and there engines are still running. The only thing with a dry kit your 19# injectors might not be large enough and you might create a lean condition. Even if you ran an AFPR you would probably have to jack up fuel pressure too much. Even if you want to spray 150 start with the 50 hp jets! Do not start with the 150 jets!

so would a wet kit work better with the stock injectors? i am just weary about anything but zex b/c of the selonoids, and the wot switch. on the zex kit, a wire goes to the tps and knows when you hit wot. will i have to fab a bracket for a microswitch with all the other companies? and one more thing, how hard is the wiring and plumbing for the selinoids?

Wet vs. Dry is all a matter of opinion.

I'll tell ya that all I use on my own personal cars is wet. If you do a search you will find years of debate on the matter.

Im using a 135 shot on my speed density with stock 19lbs injectors. No problems here. I set the timing to 8 degrees retard, 50psi on the fuel and throw in some octane boost on 92 octane. I also went two steps colder on the plugs and gapped them to 35. Hope this helps you...

i used a nx tps wot switch and you just splice in with your wire from your tps and power ground and another to your relay and it was such a ****ing hassle. plus you have to adjust those and mine ended up taking a dump. get a hobb switch (microswitch) and make a little bracket, its cake. AS FOR THE FUEL get a fuel pressure cutoff switch, cheap and effective.

I would also run an RPM activated window switch and a fuel pressure switch. I have heard mixed results about WOT switches. Some swear by a micro switch, while others love a TPS switch. I am going with a micro switch by http://www.jimmy-jams.com on my DynoTune wet nitrous system. Good luck and have fun.

If i got down to the local parts store, how do I tell which spark plugs are colder? is there a rating somewhere or could you guys give me brands?
I've always wanted a Nitrous system but everyone always tells me to go supercharger, that nitro blows engines up but i've always read that if properly tuned they work great! and you guys are all useing pretty much stock engines right? and No probs? that really makes me wanna get one

Mine is a stock block with 74,000 miles. No problems yet. The plugs will sometimes be shorter and the tips will be recessed. Just tell the store you wanna go colder, it should show up in their computer. A supercharger is the same as a nitrous system, get greedy with it, and it will blow up. How much is it to fill up your bottle? Figure that in for costs also. I have to pay 65 dollars everytime. I only use mine "in case of emergency". Also I highly recommend a nitrous pressure gauge, purge kit and bottle blanket. These are essential for a smooth working nitrous system. It would be more cost effective to go with a supercharger in the long run. Thats why I will switching mine one soon. Paying $65 every week to fill it up can hurt the wallet.....
